The First Quarter 2024 newsletter of AHA Coding Clinic for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS was released March 6, 2024. Let’s explore some of the highlights!

The first newsletter of 2024 is 35 pages long and starts with changes to the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting—including revisions to the sepsis, diabetes mellitus, and aftercare guidelines — a  revision to the brachytherapy guideline in the ICD-10-PCS Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, and 41 new ICD-10-PCS codes. These changes go into effect April 1 of this year. For example, a new device value 5, Radioactive Element, Palladium-103 Collagen Implant, will go into effect for table 00H in ICD-10-PCS on April 1, 2024. This code will be used when Palladium-103 GammaTiles® are implanted and used to deliver radiation to patients with intracranial neoplasms.
